Chinese Fishermen

        I - Sung Dynasty Scroll

His straw cape and hat
are wet with the morning’s dew.
No sound but water,
no lotus, no line, no pole,
no desire.  All become one.

        II – New York, East River

From the overpass,
the traffic’s susurration.
Fishing line ignored,
he scrolls through his messages
while puffing a cigarette.
